The Buteyko Breathing Method for Asthma Relief
Medical science is really unable to determine why it is that we have asthma attacks. People who realize the truth about asthma, however, understand that it has a lot to do with breathing along with some other problems that we may be experiencing, such as pollution or dehydration. If you’re able to control your breathing, you are able to control the asthma to a large extent. One of the ways that this can be done is by exercising your breathing regularly in order to overcome the problem. The easiest way for this to take place is by using the Buteyko Breathing Method.
It is not necessary for you to run out and buy an expensive course that will teach you how to do this particular method. The way that it is done is fairly simple but before I give you the method, let me explain to you exactly why it works. Our body breathes as a result of CO2 being too high in our bloodstream. Whenever the body uses the oxygen that it takes in by breathing, it simply alerts us to the fact that we need to breathe again. During an asthma attack, we tend to hyperventilate and this can cause an imbalance in the oxygen/CO2 combination in the blood. The body reacts by constricting the vessels of the lungs and we have an asthma attack.
The way to overcome this problem is by using the Buteyko Breathing Method. Try holding your breath and see if you are able to do so for 60 seconds. If you’re unable to do it for 60 seconds, breathe through your nose using shallow breaths for five minutes and then try again to hold your breath at the end of the five minutes. If you are still unable to hold your breath for the full 60 seconds, you should still notice an improvement in the amount of time that you’re able to hold it. Practice doing the several times a day for a couple of weeks and you will build up the amount of time that you are able to hold your breath. During this time, you should also notice your asthma diminishing considerably.
Although many people will try to describe the Buteyko Breathing Method as being something that is difficult, that really is all that there is to it. If you breathe this way regularly, you may just be able to get a grip on your asthma completely.
